In Garry’s Mod, a “Player Model” (often shortened to PM) is a custom character model that replaces your default appearance in the game. When you subscribe to a playermodel addon, you gain the ability to play as that character, seeing their hands in first-person (if c_arms are included) and their full body in third-person or to other players. It’s the ultimate tool for roleplaying, standing out on servers, or just having fun as your favorite character.
How to Change Your Player Model In-Game
Changing your character is easy once you’ve subscribed to a model from the Steam Workshop. Just follow these simple steps inside your GMOD game:
- Press and hold your context menu key (usually the ‘C’ key on your keyboard).
- While holding it, a menu will appear on the screen. In the top-left corner, click the button that says “Player Model”.
- A new window will open, showing all the custom playermodels you’ve subscribed to. Simply click on the one you want to use.
- Your character will instantly change. Enjoy your new look!
