What is the Bootleg Carrion Monster in GMOD?
The Bootleg Carrion Monster is a special type of Garrysmod addon called a “Dupe,” which contains a complex script. It uses the StarfallEx extension to create a controllable, amorphous horror. Unlike a standard NPC, this monster is a web of physics-based props that you can control, simulating the unique movement and abilities of the creature from the game Carrion. CRITICAL: Installation & Setup Instructions
This addon WILL NOT WORK unless you follow these two steps exactly:
- Subscribe to the Required Addon: You must first install the StarfallEx – Git Master addon from the Steam Workshop.
- Set Console Commands: After installing StarfallEx, you must open the developer console (the ~ key) and enter these three commands one by one:
sf_props_burstrate 300 sf_props_burstmax 300 sf_timer_max 300
Once you have done this, the Carrion Monster dupe will function correctly in-game.

As of the latest update, the monster has one primary ability from the original game:
- Arachnoptysis: The ability to shoot a web-like substance.
